Bart Ferro

We lost a legend, Bart Ferro, on December 18, 2014. He was a dedi­cated family man with many friends. Bart was a talented athlete, avid sportsman as well as a loyal member of California Waterfowl Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was a well-respected man of the Suisun Marsh, always ready to offer a helping hand to anyone and loved a good time. He will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Sharman (Paul) and Jen Rosier, Grandchildren: Justin (Erin), Michelle and Blake, Great-Grandson Luca, sister Carolyn Pollock, former wife Sue Ferro, many nieces and nephews and a countless number of friends. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents Bert and Rose Ferro and brother Bob. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 23, 2014 at Connolly and Taylor Mortuary, 4000 Alhambra Avenue Martinez, California 94553. Donations can be made to California Waterfowl

Gay Snow Byars


Gay Snow-Byars
Gay Snow-Byars passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014 in Kalispell, MT. Gay was 77. Born in Oakland, California, graduated from Acalanes High School and soon became a fabulous hair stylist for many years to come. Loved for her charismatic personality, her passion for Bingo and anything that sparkled and shined! She is preceded by her father, the late Thomas Snow & her oldest daughter Leslie Croke. She is survived by her mother Bertie Snow-Jogopulos, her two other children, Atrice Burns & Marc Croke, siblings twin sister Gail Forte, Beora Snow, Karol Churchill, Jack Snow, and grandchildren Leila & Julian Burns. No services will be held, but the family is asking that donations be made to the American Kidney

William Wood Wadman

Bill one of our many fine singers in school died February 2014 in Portland, Oregon.  There was not memorial service.  His ashes at his request were scattered in the Pacific off the Coast of Oregon.

Lanny D. Erickson



Lanny Dale Erickson passed away peacefully on March 24, 2014 in the San Luis Obispo hospital. Lanny was born in Albany, California in 1936. The family moved to Lafayette, California where Lanny attended school. He graduated from Acalanes High school in 1954. In the Fall of 1954 he entered the University of California at Berkeley. The following year he transferred to the Armstrong Business College in Berkeley where he graduated in 1958. Shortly after graduating he was drafted into the Army for two years of service followed by two years of Active Reserve service.

After being discharged from the Army he went to work for his father’s business Oscar E. Erickson Inc. in Richmond, California. He left the family business in 1986 to establish a sporting goods store in Richmond with two partners. Lanny then retired in 1997. Shortly thereafter he moved with his wife of 47 years, Norma to Cambria, California. Once settled into his new home he and Norma joined the Cambria Connections a nonprofit community resources center serving all ages.

He is survived by his wife Norma and his son Eric William Erickson, daughter in law Victoria and granddaughter Sara Elizabeth; brother Oscar John and Marilyn; nieces Vera Foss, Julia Reis and nephew Oscar Jon.

William Fredrick Miller

Bill Miller passed away on February 16, 2014 in Bend, Oregon. Bill had a long and hard fight with Parkinson. He is survived by his loving wife Mimi and his three children. ( I will post more about Bill once his obituary is published.)

Marcel L. Hawkins

Marcel Lesscel Dunlap was a resident of Pleasant Hill, California. She passed away peacefully on January 19 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Marcel was born October 12, 1936. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Dunlap Sr., daughters Denise Walker, Suzanne Bonilla, Melia Fontaine, Cheryl Hanson, and son George Dunlap Jr. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. George and Marcel resided in Pleasant Hill for 52 years.

Harold Oxsen

(When we were seniors he came to Acalanes High School and taught math and coached JV basketball and JV football.) July 1922 – Feb. 1, 2014 Harold passed away quietly at home, after a short illness. The loving given to Harold was long and strong, while the suffering mercifully short. Harold lived in Walnut Creek, CA and taught math there for 44 years until retirement and then moved to Santa Rosa. Music, learning, travel, athletics, and fun were sources of joy in his life. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois Baker. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Gene; and his children, Margi Vonk, Doug Oxsen and Carolyn Oxsen; and his adopted children, Beth Schmidt and Tsion Alemayehu. He has 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Rosa on February 15th.
